Before you connect: what each tool needs on its side

Which tools need a paid plan or a nonprofit account, which keys expire, and which setups take an authorization click.

Accounts and plans

  • Needs a paid plan there: Teachable and Thinkific (API access is not on their free plans), Donorbox (the API is a paid add-on), Bloomerang.
  • Nonprofits only: Givebutter and Donorbox check your EIN at sign-up.
  • Free works: everything else, including Mailchimp, Kit, Constant Contact, ActiveCampaign, Campaign Monitor, Zoom, HubSpot, Pipedrive, Zoho CRM, Salesforce (a Developer Edition org), QuickBooks (a sandbox company), Xero, FreshBooks, Wave, Eventbrite, Calendly, Cal.com, Dropbox, Typeform, Jotform, SurveyMonkey, Webflow, Plausible and PostHog.

Three kinds of key

  • Paste one key: Mailchimp, Kit, ActiveCampaign, Campaign Monitor, HubSpot, Pipedrive, Wave, Eventbrite, Calendly, Cal.com, Typeform, Jotform, SurveyMonkey, Webflow, PostHog, Givebutter. Two minutes each.
  • Create an app, no Allow screen: Zoom (server-to-server app), Salesforce (client credentials). Copy its IDs and you're done.
  • Create an app, then allow it once: QuickBooks, Xero, FreshBooks, Zoho CRM, Constant Contact. The portal asks for a redirect URL; any address you own works, and after Allow the code is in your browser's address bar. Swap it for the refresh token the way the page shows.

Keys that expire

Dropbox generated tokens (about four hours), Cal.com keys unless you choose Never expires, Constant Contact access tokens, SurveyMonkey draft apps (90 days) and unused Webflow tokens (a year). See When an integration shows an error for what to do.

No key at all

Plausible needs only your site added on plausible.io and the same domain typed in. Squarespace and Wix are copy-paste embeds. The spreadsheet-import tools need a CSV export, nothing more.
